In Mahadev Desai’s book “The Gita According to Gandhi,” he writes - to practice yoga means: “the yoking of all the powers of body, mind and soul to god, it means the disciplining of the intellect, the mind, the emotions and the will, which that yoga presupposes, it means a poise of the soul, which enables one to look at life in all its aspects evenly.” One of the most cherished and comprehensive flows in the yoga canon of movement, which is the vinyasa (meaning to link movement with breath) known as Surya Namaskar. In English, this translates to Salutations to the Sun, or “Sun Salutes”.

Comprised of 12 postures, Sun Salutations is a benefic, beautiful modality that supports the overall development of the mind, body, and breath. Not only does it bring flexibility and suppleness to the musculoskeletal system, it becomes the foundation for spiritual practice. Yes, while these dynamic postures assist us in the physical, mental, social arenas of health, and with sound, perceptible benefits, but it is for spiritual excellence where we accept the maximum gift of practice: asanas, pranayama and then meditation.

By removing waste products from the body will ensures proficient human heart performance.

  6. Once you get your vinyasa down                                                                                                       Try picking up the pace. While a slow practice will increase flexibility, at a fast pace provides an excellent cardiovascular workout, which will tighten and tone your body and help shed pounds, especially in that hard to reach lower belly.
